Committee members are responsible for the running of the group – which usually involves meeting every 6 weeks to discuss upcoming productions, set up auditions and production teams, coordinate publicity and a range of other activities that are needed to keep the group ticking over.
Committee members are elected at the annual general meeting and can be contacted as a group using the email address firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Chair takes overall responsibility and usually provides the vision for the group over the course of the year, as well as chairing meetings and ensuring the committee is providing what the membership wants.
The Vice Chair is a backup role and deputises for the Chair in their absence, and will take responsibility for other important activities as and when needed.
The Secretary is the administrative point of contact, responsible for taking meeting notes and responding to anyone who contacts the group via the website, email, post and telephone.
The Treasurer looks after the money side of the things, keeping control of and logging all the payments into and out of the group throughout the year. They are also part of the team that sets the budget for each production.
Each member must pay a membership fee and it’s the Membership Secretary’s responsibility for collecting them and passing them the treasurer, as well as a keeping a record of each member’s contact details.
The Assistant Secretary works with the Secretary, particularly when communicating outside the membership.
Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adults
Swavesey RADSOC takes the involvement of children and vulnerable adults in our productions seriously, and as such we appoint ‘safeguarding’ posts from the general membership who act under guidance from the National Operatic & Drama Association (NODA).
If you have any questions, or wish to talk to Martin or Rachel about our safeguarding policies you can contact them at email@example.com.
